Byron Talmage Thomason

Byron Talmage Thomason entered into eternal life Saturday, November 19, 2011.

I was born to Christ loving parents, Charles Gustave and Doralee ‘Anderson’ Thomason on July 10, 1943 and continued my 68 year mortal mission in Burton, Idaho, save for my two year New England Mission, (November 5, 1965 – November 12, 1964) under the loving guidance and life-long friendship of president Truman G. Madsen.

I was also blessed with wonderful brothers and sisters, Charles ‘Tony’, Wilford Warren, Lolita Shirley, Lynnea Holly, and my younger siblings, Nicholas Andrea, Roger Lee, Anne Marie Neville, Greg and Paul, each helping me to be better than I believed possible. The greatest gift my family gave me was the love of learning. After graduating from Madison High and Seminary in 1961, I earned my Associate Degree in Science, with High honors

(1964-1966) and graduated from the LDS Institutes of Religion in 1967. Returning from my mission, I earned my Bachelors in Government, with High Honors on August 2, 1968, receiving Idaho State University’s High honor Society Key on May 29, 1969, was offered a government position with the United States, in Washington D.C. with full Master and Doctoral scholarships, but my true love was to farm with my dad, which I did until he passed in 1992.

My love for my Lord and my Heavenly Father allowed me to serve in Their eternal plan as an ordained Seventy, but I had not yet found my eternal companion until March, 1975. The daughter of Evert ‘Bud’ and Joyce Claunch from Aberdeen/Springfield, Idaho, Carolyn Claunch and I were engaged to be married in November 1975, however, Carolyn was called home to Our Lord on August 10, 1975 and I believed my heart was forever broken, yet my faith and deep love for Christ gave me the trust that we would once again be reunited, and through His appointed prophet, President Spencer W. Kimball, I was granted the privilege of being married and sealed to Carolyn for time and all eternity on November 14, 1975.

I filled my life with motorcycling, flying planes, air shows, boating, skiing, and target shooting with my closest and dearest friends and taking my mother on extended cross country trips. In January 1984 I was assigned to assist Lynn ‘Thomas’ Murray on a Seventy Fireside. Unbeknown to me, Lynn was short for Marilynn and to my surprise I was love-struck the moment we were introduced and through our entire marriage, married and sealed for time and all eternity on November 29, 1984, and blessed further with three beautiful sons, Norman Lee on November 5, 1990, Ryan Talmage on December 1, 1992, and John William Murray, on September 4, 1970, brimming my life with continual love, friendship and joy.

My life was great, yet I know my eternal life will be greater. God Bless and I’ll see you there, Byron.
